You're A Healthy Beautiful Woman

Leading the life of a fat independent woman is never easy, especially when you have the society eying you all the time. Even if a 'thin and lean body' with the 'perfect abs' has become the new 'vogue', if is okay if you do not fall under that category of women. Remember your size does not define who you are, and so if people call you fat, chubby, fuller curvy, let them. Embrace your curves proudly because they only make you a healthy beautiful woman.

Where Fat Is Fine

In Western countries the general view is that all women want to be thin and everyone who is overweight is interested in dieting and taking up the latest popular weight reducing system. Fortunes are spent on special foods and exercise regimes in an attempt to lose a few kilograms and conform to the dimensions of the latest top model.

Much effort goes into designing clothes to flatter the form that does not yet fit that slender silhouette. However, over large parts of the world, fat is viewed in a much more positive light. In parts of Asia and most of Africa, fat is welcomed as a sign of growing affluence.

An Unintended Romance

A long-term romance for a voluptuous plus-size woman evolved almost unconsciously. Kwame Mainu's life became inextricably interwoven with that of his first love, Comfort Opokua, whose strong material ambition at first compounded Kwame's dilemma of whether to seek his fortune overseas or stay to serve his homeland, Ghana. Through the course of two decades, Kwame wooed and married Comfort, was abandoned because of his lack of material progress, and slowly regained her respect and companionship through years of dedication to his work.

Plus Size Mother Goddesses

In modern times, archeologists have uncovered a number of small sculptures and ceramic images of women that were made before 25,000 BCE in the Upper Paleolithic Era. These artifacts were produced long before the invention of writing so their purpose cannot be known for sure, but as they bear a resemblance to sculptures and images found in almost all later cultures, they are widely believed to be representations of a Mother Goddess or Earth Mother.

One thing is certain: these earliest representations of the iconic female form would be classified as plus size by the modern fashion industry.

Plus Size Loose Women

The Independent Television company (ITV) in the UK recently caused a stir when one of the panellists on its chat show 'Loose Women' said that high street dress shops should cater for the 'normal range' and there should be separate special shops for overweight women. The three other panellists expressed similar views, saying that being overweight should not be encouraged, and the chairwoman stated categorically 'Do not normalise overweight.'

They went on to accuse the popular comedy actress, Dawn French, of popularising and promoting overweight.

Plus Size Hard to Find in Vietnam

Over recent decades Vietnam has become a leading clothes manufacturer and its numerous garment enterprises, large and small, produce a wide range of fashionable outfits in all fabrics, styles and price ranges. The country is also becoming a popular tourist destination, so one might expect that local stores would be eager to sell garments to visitors, and visitors would be interested in taking home quality products from their country of origin.

However, the small stature of Vietnamese men and women, and the low proportion that is overweight, is reflected in the stock of most clothes stores, with a standard size range in which even the average westerner searches for the proverbial needle in a haystack, and the plus size visitor searches in vain.

Feeling Good in Brazil

In Brazil, we are told, vanity, as an excessive pride in one's appearance, is not viewed as a negative attribute. All the people, men as well as women, are expected to go to great lengths to look good. As a result of the tremendous pressure to look slim, beautiful and young, Brazilian women were reported in 2014 to spend eleven times as much on beauty products as British women.

Yet even in this society which worships the youthful figure, there are women who want their sisters who are no longer young and slim, to feel beautiful and sexually attractive without the need to have a tantalisingly elusive body form, or undergoing surgery.
